The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta started in September 1979 with a small group of balloonists gathering at Ashton Court. It began with 27 balloons and has since become Europe’s largest free annual hot air balloon festival. Today, it attracts over 100 balloons and 500,000 followers over four days.
